Migrationwatch UK is an independent think tank. It is chaired by Sir Andrew Green, a former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. We have a distinguished Advisory Council from diverse ethnic and professional backgrounds.

We entirely accept that genuine refugees should be welcomed; nowadays those granted protection comprise only about 3% of net foreign immigration.

We also recognise that many immigrants have made a valuable contribution to our society in terms both of skills and diversity so we are not opposed to immigration that is moderate and managed. At present it is neither.

Our purpose is to monitor developments, conduct research, and provide the public with full and accurate facts placed in their proper context. We also make recommendations for policy.

Since its formation in September 2008 we have provided research for the Cross Party Group on Balanced Migration led by Frank Field MP (Labour) and Nicholas Soames MP (Conservative). Details of the Group and their proposals can be found at www.balancedmigration.org

Unlike most organisations in this field, we receive no subsidy from the government in any form and have no intention of seeking one. As we are not a membership organisation, we rely on donations of whatever our supporters can afford, as well as on subscriptions to our papers (at a cost of £25 per year) from those who would like to have hard copies of our papers.

George Galloway interviews Andrew Green on the hot button issue of immigration and whether the numbers of immigrants are spiraling out of control. This is part one.

Originally broadcasted on 15th October 2010.

  • @tooyjfwn Immigrants are not a race of people, immigrants come in all colours and races.

  • Do we not have a freedom of information act therefore meaning migration watch is a completely legitimate distributor of national statistics. The figures are facts in spite of any "bias".

  • @tooyjfwn

    but apart from that,nice people,right?

  • Give this man another knighthood. Good to hear someone brave enough to state the facts without being silenced by those trying to stifle debate by shouting 'racist' at the first opportunity before even hearing the argument

  • @VikingTerror616 Its not "Name calling" He is stating his own personal observations based upon what he has heard from this video and the fact that they have failed to disclose who are funding them thereby suggesting that they have an ulterior motive for their organisation. Therefore he views them as racist, xenophobic and extremist.

He has supported his reasons therefore you are factually wrong.

  • Maybe it would be easier and more practical to embrace migrants and concentrate on the pro's and not the con's. As far as I am concerned, migrants do a lot for any country not just for the U.K. They are an important part of the workings of our world.

  • 'migration watch' are extremist rightist xenophobic racist propaganda spreaders who refuse to disclose their main funders. Vermin.
