A TRIBUTE TO JOHN GRANT - TROOP 33 DEKALB IL

A tribute to John Grant, Scouting volunteer with Troop 33 DeKalb, Illinois. John experienced Scouting three times during his life; first as a Scout in his youth, second with his son as a parent, and third as a grandfather with his grandson A.J. with Troop 33. A.J. earned the Eagle Scout award. John was always the someone there ready to help in any situation. Some of the big trips John was involved in are highlighted in this video, which include winter trips to Lake Superior featuring ice caves, snow shelters, snowshoeing, and dog sledding, plus summer trips to giant sand dunes in Michigan, and canoeing at Boundary Waters in Minnesota. Disaster relief projects included helping to restore an abandoned high school in Kentucky into a disaster center and relief projects for Hurricane Ike in Galveston, Texas including helping to rebuild a house. Finally a trip to Central America. Adventures in Panama included boating, dolphin watching, snorkeling, and a remote wilderness beach. Costa Rica adventures included visiting Troop 78 in the city of Escazu, visiting San Jose, Limon, and Puerto Viejo Costa Rica, hiking at a waterfall, hiking atop Poas volcano, jungle zip line, whitewater rafting, butterfly sanctuary, river boat wildlife safari and nature hikes in rain forests. John retired and moved to Georgia with severe health issues.
