Because,if aliens CAN reach us from far away starsystems,they would be very advanced. Tecnologically,mentally and culturally. We humans burn dead plants and animals for energy(oil). We fight amongst ourselves.We are scattered over more than a 100 nations. We show primitive behavior such as racism and agressiveness towards our OWN species.We are instable. In their eyes, we probably aren't ready to get out of our isolation(Earth).I'd say enough reason tonot make contact YET.Let us stabilize first.

NASA/govt do have plenty of secrets... my friend's brother worked at NASA before he committed suicide... heard that people who worked for NASA (i believe other govt sectors too) are not supposed to leak any work related stuffs to a single soul. her husband NEVER and isnt supposed to talk to her about his job... I believe he knows something too... anyways he died of depression from work.... so its really dark... politics are dark... im surprise mitchell actually reveal it in public

wont happen, he goes missing it will only reinforce what he has spoken out about. further more I believe the government are sort of allowing it to happen bit by bit to prepare us. but I also believe one of the main reasons as to why the government may still be hesitant towards releasing, is religion. I mean the extremists. once people realise there are no consequences for your actions on earth all the rapists murderers will be on the rise. religion suppresses these things.

what if the martians persuaded the government that they would share their awesome technology if the government killed all christians, and then it happens, but the aliens were actually trying to see if we've grown out of our evil ways, and when they do it the aliens will keep their contacts away from us for another several centuries >.> tee hee hee
