US Route 66 Road Trip Arizona Part 2

The next reel from my road trip on US66 from Sept 1999 going through Arizona. Second part. Continuing through Sitgreaves Pass to the California State Line. US66 was nicknamed "The Mother Road" / "Main Street USA" / "Will Rogers Highway". In it's heydey US66, Christened in Nov of 1926 and decertified in 1985, was the road that connected Chicago to Los Angeles a generation before the Interstate came along. Over 2000 miles, Eight States, Three Time Zones makes for a great vacation trip. 80 percent of the road is intact, and in daily use with older original alignments. Some segments get you away from the interstate all together. Western Arizona is a great example. I taped this on my old VHS camera. The music in the background is coming from my tape and CD player. Speed was 30mph on good segments, other times especially on the switchback turns, you took it in first gear. Good ride.

I kind of want to go on a roadtrip in USA, but since i live in Sweden it's kinda far away...

how Fast Were you going?...Nice Scenery...but Oh man do those Curves,and Steep cliffs look Nerve Racking!
