No its not that hard. It was for me becuase i was sick and hurrying. take your time it just un bolts and bolts in. didnt even have to take the center console out. Stock shifter goes threw the hole thru the top of the car. take the long arm on the shifter closest to the transmission and bring it over and down close to the passenger side . then just make it go on up. haha then put the new one in . Be careful tighting the transmission link rog. It snaps way easy.

ok so im thinking about installing a hurst short throw on my mustang too, what are the steps or the process to successfully install the shifter? does everything just bolt on to where it needs to go? does the stock leather boot fit the hurst shifter or does the shifter come with its own?

@93sallyg Everything just bolts right in place of the old shifter. You have to remove the whole shifter through the top of the center counsel. It reuses the shock shifter boot and comes with a little rubber adapter to fit around the hurst shifter.

did you have to take of the drive shaft to get at it? And if so was that a pain?

@Spartan193069 No you don't need to remove the drive shaft. Just crawl under the car and take out all the bolts, then you can remove the shifter from the top. It pulls right out of the hold in the center counsel. Its a little tight but it will sneak through, not to hard of an install.
