I would, but its not worth it.Desktops arent my thing anymore because they use too much electricity as compared to a laptop.I have one newer desktop with crt monitor and rarely use it.I use my laptop. My laptop 65 watts max,my desktop installed 600 watt power supply.

or pull the harddrive
Why do you have to back up your data? Is this dangerous because of static electricity?

@P47ThunderboltJug Love your user name, do you own/fly one?
I ALWAYS backup data just in case something happens. You might drop the PC or accidentally drop something into the open case.
Just a precaution; I always want to have current backups anyway.

its usually easier to use an air compresser. Thats what ive always done

You have to be careful with an ordinary air compressor. Too high of pressure can damage something & there can be oil in the air from the compressor if not well filtered (which most do not).

I usually take the cpu fan off as well as the case fans and clean them out with a paint brush. Than I take the Power supply out and take the cover off and clean it out the fans and heat sinks by brush as well.
The end result is the system runs faster and quieter as well.

If you take the CPU fan off then you may well need to apply a small amount of thermal paste when re-assembling. Most people don't have that. But if you do and you are comfortable doing that, then that's great.
