Judith Durham sings solo The Olive Tree at
their farewell concert July 7 1968 in London.

Tom Springfield and Diane Lampert wrote this song for Judith and in a way it brought her together with her husband Ron Edgeworth.

Judith recorded this song in april 1967 and

  • Thanks for your comment, not many find their way here to hear Judith sing this lovely song.I hope she gave you good memories here.

  • Pete Townsend had pictures of Lily.

As a twelve year old, I had pictures of Judith. She messed me up good & proper !!

  • I never got to see a picture of Judith before summer of 1971 when I came over some single records. Before that I could only hear them on the radio,we had no record player.

  • @Isleofskye Thanks for that! The carpenters I'd heard of & they are not really my type tbh. But Renaissance is right up my street with songs like those you mentioned! Bloody hell! Amazing material. It's such a shame we always have to go back to the 60s & 70's for good music in a way though. All the female singers now are about as talented as a politician's hair stylist! They only know how to scream at the top of their voice. Awful.

She's not very well known, but check out 'Carrie Tree'. Thanks.

  • @therealKINDLE

Judith is wonderful but so was Karen Carpenter on tracks like " This Masquerade " and Shirley Bassey gas a different style but sensational voixe and presence.

Try Annie Haslam of the 1970's English Group=Renaissance on Songs like "Ashes Are Burning " and "Mother Russia " for another beautiful delivery.

  • Good art doesn't gets older. I live in Brazil.

  • Since we're on the path of recommendations for her, listen to the Seekers' version of "What Have They Done To The Rain?". I have to listen more than once to that gem.

  • If You think this is Good, Check out "Walk With Me". It's Totally Haunting & leaves you Shivering for the rest of the day.

I've tried looking for another voice like Judith's in the hope that this is a certain Style of Singing. But there's no other Voice like it. She Really is the only person on the Planet that can reduce a person to Tears with a single performance.
