Could easily be 2x faster if you ran proper dual channel memory (i.e. 2x1GB, 2x2GB) and not single channel memory (2GB + 1GB)
single channel memory may sometimes not present a huge difference, but it BOTTLENECKS SSDs

@bnchap Thanks for such a quick response, reading your blog it looks like the Vista drivers work on Windows 7 in this instance. I already have updated drivers for the LAN, WLAN etc. Thanks again, now I can ahead with my upgrade.

incredible.
i wanna buy a ssd to put into my Dell Latitude 610C with pentium3 1 ghz. I think i'm going to get similar performance.
Can I ask a question about the upgrade to Windows 7? I have one of these laptops and would like upgrde but I have concerns about the compatibility of the ATK0100 ACPI Utility, which might cause problems with my hotkeys if it doesn't run in 7. Did you have to update the ATKACPI driver?

@angryafghan Its been so long since I've done it - I cant remember totally. You can grab the drivers from the link in the description.
However I think if you run all the windows updates I think you only need to install the app.

@crocodiIu ok so your telling me that its not just slightly impressive that a cheap crappy laptop can boot this quick and load a ton of apps???? not sure I get your point.... and it wasn't the fact that I was pround of it more of an example of if you buy a cheap laptop you could whack an SSD in it and achieve so really good boot times.
