Not to romanticize drug use, just saying....Ms. O'Day, by her own admission, was high on heroin, when she sang this. She got off of it on her own (thankfully) and to her credit. Don't mean to glorify drug use... Still... There something beautiful (and freeing) about singing and creating and basically truly being "free" this way. Again, not glorifiying drug use. Just saying...

Drugs and alcohol have inspired / fueled alot of history's great artists, authors & musicians.To deny this is foolish. Anita was more than candid about her addictions.A real class act.

It does indeed. Still, this was really late 1950's/early 60's. Do you notice how much the girls/guys look like people you actually know today? That is truly the lesson of history....As much as we think that we are so very differtent---we are SOOO similar to individuals from the "past".The Past is US.
