Turkey Trot

The 8th Annual Long Beach Turkey Trot was sponsored by the Community Action Team (CAT) on Thanksgiving in Belmont Shore. Over 6,000 runners and walkers participated, raising thousands of dollars and food for charity. Some of the events included a 5K and 10K runs, a kids 1/2 mile Wing Ding, and a Chuck the Chicken Contest, where contestants threw a rubber chicken across the beach. The courses all started just outside the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool, ran along the beach path past the Belmont Pier towards Downtown Long Beach, California, and finished back at the Belmont Pool. For those who love running turkey trots are a great way to start Thanksgiving Day! Nick Garner of http://www.sportstalk4kids.com ran the 5K and then reported on all the action!
