As I've told you before, I'm a big fan of western type theme instrus, ever since I first heard the guitar drenched "(Ghost) Riders In The Sky" by
The Ramrods, or possibly even earlier. So, since I've been mentioning that particular tune a few times now (when I uploaded "Desperado" and
"Tequila Sunset", for instance), why don't I just upload one of the two different versions I did of it myself during that 'infamous' August, 1997
session that I've been mentioning to you quite a few times by now, when I cut no less than 62 instrus in a row, using a 6-track cassette recorder, a couple of guitars, a pre-amp and a Alesis SR-16 drum machine triggered by a bunch of live played drum pads. Oakie dookie, here goes....
P.S. (Oh no, not again! Somebody's gonna strangle me soon (lol!), but the same procedure still counts, aka...click the blue URL link for better picture and STEREO sound, thanks!!) D.S.

  • I wonder if..".The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame' and "The Musicians Hall Of Fame" are aware that they have inducted the wrong man ? perhaps you could inform them of this error...if you have the time .

  • FOR CHRIST SAKE....get a life, man! At 65 you should know better than to waste your time nagging about something that you obviously don't know a thing about! Look through the annals of R&RHOF and be amazed over the fact that they have inducted JONI MITCHELL into their ranks before they even discovered that someone named Gene Vincent had been dismissed!! Britney Spears anyone? 'Nuff said...Now, can I PLEASE be allowed to get back to what I do best...makin' music? Thank you!!!! Hank C

  • I guess that you wont be in line for the new Duane Eddy CD. It's called "Artifacts Of Twang" and Brian Setzer joined Duane on "That's The wat It Was When We Started To Rock And Roll".

  • You're absolutely right!! I've got enough work lined up for myself cutting and producing my own stuff on a myriad of labels all over the planet (to complement my already 80+ discography, incl. the only record released on the Legendary SUN label by a European!!) to be able to get involved in any pastime revival stuff! All credits to Duane but he's simply not my cup of tea when it comes to breathtaking fretboard gymnastics, or down-to-earth RED HOT rock'n roll for that matter!! 'Nuff said...Hank C

  • I would love to hear Duane Eddy ,in concert... do all of the songs by all of the people who have imitated him since 1958. That incudes this one.

  • OOOPS...IMITATED???? Either you've dropped your hearing aids and need to put 'em back in at full blast, or need to get an instant training course in guitar music!! I fronted my first band at 13 in '58 and have stubbornly stayed away from ANY copy cat stuff ever since, not to mention that I've never been a particular fan of D.E. (his Travis stuff is quite amazing though!). It's such a doggone shame that he's wasted time on stuff like "Rebel Rouser", "Peter Gunn" and what have ya, really! Hank C.

  • Soundtrack of the wild west ... :-)

  • in my opinion, this is a great rendition to a great song.each artist has to feel their own soul in their work.this happens to be my favorite country and western song.again, you did honor to this song.thanks.

  • friggin great!

  • @burnette44: LMFAO @ 'IMITATED'! Although I do like Duane Eddy's Peter Gunn I'd say that he can't hold a candle to your playing. No one can make a guitar work quite as well as you where rockabilly is concerned, and you can sing as well. Unbelievable. Thanks for the pleasure you've given me, I can never repay the debt.

  • Sooooo fine, very thanks for this version, oh the Steel- Guitars on the best!!

    Greatest thanks from Berlin,

    Peter

  • The supernatural theme of Ghost Riders in The Sky asks for reverb. The Burl Ives acoustic version is great in its simplicity but the twang of the electric guitar transforms me. Your renditon tops them all and I come away feeling that you've filled in the missing parts.

  • great stuff!

  • Love the effects... and the playing. Damn that's one stormy night!!

    Regards,

    Brian

  • Have you posted "Spinning Rock Boogie" yet? It was a favourite of mine from the 80's.

  • Så fantastiskt bra och lite Spotnicksriff är alltid välkommet.

    mvh
