You would like to think that. But once you understand how it works, it is a school based on ritual, that just "having sex," actually is bad for you magically when you walk that path.
The book is fantastic though, and well worth reading just for the ideas in it.

My favorite background.
Sounds like chaos magic. Could run an Invisibles campaign in it.

This may very well be my favourite game of all time. I own all of the books (first and second ed.) The mix of theosophy and post-modern beliefs is just plain amazing. The only real downside is it can be INCREDIBLY hard to run a prolonged game (or even explain the game to people) and maintain the "feel" that core book and the expansions have. Or at least it has been for me.

Actually the name of the school is a bit misleading. Pornomancers don't get their powers from porn - they get it from sex. And not just normal sex - specifically ritualized sex acts.

I'm an avatar of the assassin. It's a really fun rp.
There's a kleptomancer and a narcomancer in our group, lots of stealing and drugs.

Lovely mini-series.

Glad to hear that i am not the only one who links "Lord of Illusions" with UA.
Also, "The Lost Room".

Lord of Illusions. Great film :)
Interesting review.
I think one thing I would have liked to see emphasised is what sets it apart as horror.
In games like Call of Cthulhu or Esoterrorists, the horror and magic is alien and unnatural to the world.
In Unknown Armies, the collective thoughts of humanity are the most powerful force around and almost all the magic is derived from embracing or subverting contemporary concepts.
Like Dipsomancy, which is both an exhilirating power trip and a squalid death wish all at once.

There are no levels in Unknown Armies. Only how good you perceive yourself to be.
