One of the greatest classics ever made. This animated movie was produced by Filmation before the 1979 Flash Gordon cartoon series, but did not actually air until 1982. It is considered the best film version of Flash Gordon, though it would never be broadcasted again following its premiere because the story is associated with Hitler's Third Reich. It was written by Star Trek writer Samuel A. Peeples, directed by Gwen Wetzler and more or less faithfully follows the early Alex Raymond comic strip adventures.

  • Please how can i get the download of this adventure Goclicky?

  • @DasGoldenBoy Yeah, I always thought that 1980 movie version was pretty cool in it's own right. But to me it was more like a cross between Barberella and The Wizard Of Oz .

  • @DasGoldenBoy Well, actualy, it isn't really a porno, .. . more like just a sexualized parody. It's titled 'Flesh Gordon from 1974. There was also a sequel in the 80's called 'Flesh Gordon Meets the Cosmic Cheerleaders ( I happen to have a clip from it dissplayed on my channel ). They're both really terrible, .. but funnier than hell!!

  • @Skulldini I don't search out Porn!

  • @Skulldini It did have some funny moments, when Zarkov and Prince Barin are blind-folded and in chains, Barin looks towards Zarkov and says "Tell me about this fellow Houdini again."

  • This is the very first time where the animation is better than I remembered as a kid. I can't tell you how crappy the Thundercats looked when I saw it again as an adult (though I still liked it).

  • @DasGoldenBoy How about the early 70's porno version , .. any good or bad words for IT ?

  • Flash basicaly looks like Superman ( just with a different hair color and costume ) .

  • @DasGoldenBoy That live action movie version was sort of a comedy, .. . or it was more humorous anyway .

  • 8:10 just when you're feeling relaxed, you're attacked by a wild band of Bill Oddies

  • I know the live action movie gets bashed but I do love it myself. It introduced me to the character, which led me to discovering the Al Williamson material in paper backs. Finally leading me to being able to read the Alex Raymond originals. This is an excellent representation of the characters. Probably the best thing Filmation ever did.

  • Aún después de tres décadas es simplemente mejor que muchas caricaturas de la actualidad - Even three decades later it is simply better than many actual cartoons.

  • Ah nostalgia .. Thanks. :-)

  • 7:31 Dragon choke slam!

  • This show used to show up on a local tv station every Sunday when I was much younger. I loved it! Thanks for uploading this.

  • In Filmation's 25 years of animation,"FLASH GORDON:THE GRETEST ADVENTURE

OF ALL' is the Ultimate accomplishment!with a two million dollar budget, the people

at this studio surpassed themselves, when they expertly did this above average

animation. it's still a mystery on why NBC waited until 1982 to air this pilot-but even

a greater one,on why it has never been released on DVD,when BCI put-out the

1979 series back in 2005. and yes-this is the finest version of Flash Gordon that

    was done!

  • Oh female stereotypes of the 70's! How you amuse me!

  • woah! Cool lookin' dinosaur thing!

  • @RigTig16

Well, it's set in 1945. Considering technological advances of present, it's not that silly :)

Destructive laser-based weaponry cannot be carried by infantry even today. They need to be mounted on vehicles and have huge power and cooling requirements.

Considering that bolt-action rifles are still used for hunting big game, I guess these could well be your best bet even today. Unless you like are a chairman of Heckler & Koch or something. ahaha.

  • its funny how the ship is armed with laser cannons but all there is for hand guns are regular rilfes that fire bullets. LOL

  • @Karmoon7 Indeed! Anyone who's watching the Fist of the North Star movie is already dead! From blood loss from the eyes. If anyone doesn't like it, I'll walk through a skyscraper head first.

Also, did you notice the amazing early rotoscoping on the ships in this here Flash Gordon? Bloody pockworthy! So nice to see an American cartoon with words like "death" and "Hitler" not being censored out as well... and people firing actual bullets.

  • @UltraGalaxyify Like Karmoon said, modern anime is awful. But for animation quality of this level and beyond, you really need to see some proper 1980s anime. Macross: Do You Remember Love is a visual masterpiece. Also, try searching youtube for " Bobby's In Deep! (Madhouse 1985) ." I actually couldn't believe my eyes.

  • @UltraGalaxyify

If I may point out the three films that may change your mind:

Macross: Do You Remember Love? (1984),

Fist of the North Star (1986),

    Akira (1988).

Just focusing purely on animation, these films are equally outstanding.

That said, in spirit I agree with everything you say.

The animation in this is nothing short of a pleasure to watch.

Especially compared to modern anime, which is by and large trash from an artistic point of view.

    :)
