  • The wide shot of James, his horn players and all of the dancers at 5:45 is epic!! It's impossible to watch this without moving. Seeing stuff like this makes me think I was born 20 years too late. ;)

  • @94tontonche Please change the date on this. This is from January of 1973, not 1971.

  • Oh my LORD! FUNKY!!!!!!!!!!

    PEACE

  • @blkshepherd And who know how many other policies she had taken out on Don. It's sad what people do for money. I guess he was just a wallet to her.

  • Don cornelius needed a seperate social security number just for the " fro" !!

  • Thank you for posting this. I am the biggest James Brown fan I know. Keep em' coming!

  • @mariabbb1964 well you know some folks cant cope. he also was told he only had weeks to live because of the terminal cancer and he didnt want his ex wife to get the insurance. so he figgured if he killed himself the insurance company would not pay off. what he didnt know is they do Pay off if the policy is over two years old which it was. too bad he didnt leave his son as Sold beneficiary. after all they were divorced.

  • That was the first Soul Train episode I saw when it aired on WTVD-TV in Durham,NC in 1973. It brought memories. I like to know who sang the first Soul Train theme? Don Cornelius was a pioneer and would be sorely missed. I remember footage on TMZ a few years back and saw Cornelius was walking like a man ten years older.

  • @blkshepherd thats why he kill him self

  • @mariabbb1964 i think it was a combination of disappointments later in the 90s and 00s his Soul train and awards show started to fade he stepped down and sold the show. Many Major artist Winning wouldnt even Attend even winning, this became a regular thing which is Insulting.Yet they had no problem attending the Pop events grammys, american music awards whether they win or lose. A bitter second divorce diminished what he had left from first divorce,he had serious health issues.he got depressed.

  • @blkshepherd do you know or why he did it
