Rear-end collisions are caused by inattentive drivers following too close and/or going too fast. The cameras aren't causing accidents, just catching what goes on all the time. A hidden and unmarked camera watching the same intersection would see the same thing and probably more of it.. My wife got a ticket from one of these, along with a photo of the violation. She clearly ran the red light, and I told her to pay the ticket and slow down.

What they don't tell you is how they shorten the yellow light in direct violation of USDOT regs. This has nothing whatsoever to do with safety. It's MONEY!!!

Such bull! Only reason why the crashes go down is because people redirect around that intersection causing traffic volume to rise in areas that cant handle it. People almost being ripped off cause the yellow light time is set shorter than it should be are getting angry. Might wanna check if the stats on road rage are going up?. Set it at the province standard if you dont wanna look like assholes. I believe its 3 secs not 2!
