---- In 1984, German filmmaker Philip Groening wrote to the Carthusian order for permission to make a documentary about them. They said they would get
back to him. Sixteen years later, they were ready. The soundtrack to Into Great Silence includes the touching and amazing chants from the Monks that make up The Grande Chartreuse Choir.

  • May God bless the Carthusian Order for their cloistered service of silence and prayerful work in His name.

May God bless us all and forgive us for the manifest sins we have arrogantly and selfishly committed.

    Pax Christi †

  • We should thank to God for this order. Many orders have been reformated or somehow changed, but the Carthusian Order stll remains the same since 1084...

    God bless you.

  • I do not support organized religions, or their ideals of worship.

But even I can find peace, and relaxation in such chants.

  • @dfeeel2 How are you so sure he is not?

  • @tommerrigan1956 beautiful prayer thank-you!

  • @dfeeel2 He is.

  • damn, if only god was real..

  • The chants are just so soothing and beautiful....

  • The dedication to silence and deep interiorized prayer is astounding. In India the yogis retreat to caves in the Himalya's but for the monk his cave is his cell.

  • This is very soothing~

  • Father, I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank you: I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures. I wish no more than this, O Lord. Into your hands I commend my soul; I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands, without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.
  • Praise be to God, who calls holy men to praise Him. We will be doing this forever in heaven :)
