i dont think it was his amp, i think it was either one of his amp switchers or the fuzz face because even after the noise issue you can hear him use a clean sound, dirty rhythm, and lead, but he avoids the fuzz face after the noise, and you can hear him turn it on after the song to check it. he probably thought it was the amp at first because the FF is connected to the dirty rhythm amp and he probably had the fuzz turned on before switching to that amp.

He was not happy at 4:40. When I saw Eric in Japan ten years ago for the ALC tour, his sound was also inconsistent and he kept shaking his head during the show.

I am quiet certain this was New Orleans, La. I was there in person. Eric appeared to have some feedback problems all night during the show. I would see him again in Lafayette, La. 2 weeks later. That was a much better show due to the fact that there were no feedback problems.

The distortion seemed to only last a few seconds. Looked like EJ flipped a switch to remedy it?
I dont understand the perception that he was agitated, even though there was equipment failure in the middle of his performance. Its possible this was a reoccurring problem he was bringing to the staff's attention? So minor that it didn't merit mentioning, imo. Whatever it was, he didn't dwell on it for more than the few seconds it took to fix it.. The whole band is pretty mellow.

Looked to me like the emotion lasted for all of a few seconds. Seemed like he flipped a switch to fix it because he got right back into it. He apparently had control over the situation and that usually equates to less frustration or ermotions. Hes a pretty mellow guy. Ya'll should compare how normal artists handle equipment failures in the middle of their performances. This was nothing.

Whats wrong there?
You hear the first notes of his overdriven turnaround and then the tone sucks off.
The rest of the song his overdriven solo and rhythm tone sounds fine to me.

Can you tell us since we can't really meet him?
-
Yeah you can hear that there was static/interference with his overdrive/rhythm setup all through the song.. must be frustrating when you're trying to put on a good show and the gear/sound people aren't cooperating.

why? Also i doubt I'd ever meet him
Qawwss2000: Which HOB was this recorded at (which city)? And do you know the date?
I think he wore the same black shirt when I saw him at the HOB in Hollywood several years ago. I'm wondering if this is from that show.
I went to the show in Anaheim (at the Disneyland HOB) too, but I don't remember the date.
Just curious.

Sorry, i dont know for sure where or when it was recorded. (Might have be in Las Vegas or LA?)

No problem. After thinking about it more after my previous post, I don't think it was the L.A. (Hollywood) show I went to, because I don't remember a camera crew filming that show.
Since this is obviously a pro-shot video, do you mind if I ask where you got it?

It was downloaded from a search of all things eric johnson, using winmx (a couple years ago).

Fantastic, as always. What happened around 4:40 when the sound gets bad? He seems pretty upset.

Looked like he was directing the sound staff's attention to the distortion that started in his amplifier.
