To all those who have enjoyed the many blogs of my son Daniel, with a very heavy heart, I have the most difficult task of telling you that sometime during the night of June 7th he fell and died of what looks like a broken neck. Bri came home and found him, she is doing better than I had expected. It's in times like this I wonder if everyone knows just how much we need each other.Have a beautiful ride Dan, we wish you were still here. You would be proud of how strong Tanis is being.

This is another great video for me to behold. I like the idea of a fixed gear bike, but that would be a regional decision. There is no way I could negotaite Seattle hills on a fixie. You can curb hop with it, or go slow as a pedestrian. I am hooked on hybrydized mountain bikes :-) Thank you for posting

I have ridden on my "fixie" on the sidewalk in 5'Oclock "pedestrian" traffic in the middle of Seattle and I can say that "fixed" is the way to go. I was able to go as slow or fast as I wanted with a flick of my hamstring. I have ridden my freewheel in Seattle as well for comparison. In busy, city fixed is the way to go. Please believe. I know it is hard to understand. It is however true.
Ride fixed for a week and you will understand.
It takes time to acclimate yourself to the control.

I have read that riding a fixie over "many" miles is uncomfortable, but we did quite well. We have done a 26 mile ride twice and will do it again.
I am going to set up a pair of touring bikes for the summer though. They will be geared. Brianda protest's but understands the need for gears on such long rides.
A girlfriend that rides fixed and (better than) keeps up with you is as great as you may imagine. I love when she passes me. It's hard to explain that feeling ^^

oh man i wished i had my fixie when i lived out in the country all those long roads would have been great could have rode for days although there was quite abit more traffic ... sucks
does brianda ride a fixie in this one cuz i saw her trackstand and it looked really good now if i had a gf who also rode a fixie i would be in love *daydreams*
