On January 30, 2011 Chicago Public school students and graduates (from Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood) got together to film a grass-roots/guerilla campaign ad to "tell it like it is," and support the best candidate to improve our neighborhood public schools.

The footage used is filmed outside of Roger C. Sullivan High School and from WGN's January 27th mayoral debate. The stars and script writers of this ad are Sullivan HS students (in order of appearance) Cristina Henriquez, Gerardo Aguilar, and Alexandra Alvarez.

On February 22, 2011 vote to improve our neighborhood schools, vote for the "Education Senator", vote for the "father of the Local School Council system" - Miguel del Valle!

This ad was not paid for or endorsed by any candidate or candidate's committee. Labor & love donated.

  • Ohhhh boy we're in a heap of trouble now!

  • Caught on tape. Excellent work students! You caught Mr. Emanuel in his lie about the public schools v charter schools. I'm so sick of him and others putting down our neighborhod schools! I'm so glad you did your homework well! This is a great example of how a lie can after a while become a fact if no one challenges it. I wasn't going to vote for him anyway, and I hope your story will help others to see that Emanuel is NOT the one to vote for. He has his own agenda.

  • You are fantastic leaders! Thank you!

  • I think this is the FLIEST video. We need more young people caring about their local politics. Politics ARE personal.. and we need to recognize that.

  • Me myself I like Miguel but he better pull the black community too. Chico's been around Daley toooo long for me, Carols not my pick and I sure in hell is not voting for that F'ing Emmanuel. If he gets into office HELLO NATIONAL GUARD - MARTIAL LAW

  • When Rahm Emanual talks about best performing high schools in Chicago and says "North Side and Walter Payton..." he is not referring to the schools in Chicago's northside, he means the school North Side College Prep (the selective high school in Chicago's northwest neighborhood). Therefore Rahm Emanula is saying that there are only two top performing Chicago Public Schools -- 1) he has it all wrong and 2) Charter Schools are not the answer -- really caring about the students is - DelValle cares

  • Am I completely insane? Is it not painfully obvious that he means "the" north side?

If you add the word "the" in front of north side his argument is true. Is everyone really pouncing on him for this? He's merely pointing out that the north side is okay and the charter schools are doing well in impoverished areas.

  • the fact that Rahm doesn't even know this simple fact about CPS is indicative of how little he cares or pays attention to Chicago politics or the needs of everyday Chicagoans.

  • great job guys!

  • @sandrajaygee Emanuel is one of the elites. He chooses his children to go to private school. If he really believed in public schools. He should have sent his children there. That goes for other politicians. I believe in a voucher program. Let the parents select the school for their children, not the government select the schools for them.
