Learn how scientists use both onshore and offshore geologic data from the Salton Sea to understand the history of faulting and earthquakes in the southern most reaches of the San Andreas fault. Join Dr. Neal Driscoll as he describes the latest findings on regional earthquake hazards and relates the perils of conducting research in this geologically fascinating but at times inhospitable region of Southern California. • Does Salton Sea lie in the belt of the Pacific?

  • i really liked this

  • william branham told of the big salton sea quake 50 years ago. it is on the u tube he also had the answer for cancer.

  • Today, Salton Buttes had a pair of light quakes. Including a 3.6. Sometimes there are earthquake swarms there. It is said that there is a pipe of cooling magma just a mile or so below the buttes. I've been there, and just a month ago. It looks like the water level has receded, and a small salt plane has formed around the buttes. I don't know if that's a summer norm or not. One thing I can say for sure, is that it is a pretty strange and spooky place. I like your stories of storms and bees too.

  • Dead Sea long gone. The Route 66 of lakes.

  • And I live less than a mile from the shore of the Salton Sea. So you live 60 miles away, can you tell me how it is "in really bad conditions?"

  • Interesting stuff,Sounds fun.

  • Oh and by the way i live in the coachella valley in desert hot springs and to tell u the truth that lake is in really bad conditions.

  • I really liked this video he is a great teacher i have always been a fanatic of plate tectonics and he did a great job explaining everything.

  • Wow ... i have to give major thanks and congrats to Professor Neal D.

i wish i had him as a teacher i would have many good therios on whats happening on that sea

    and i TOTALY BACK HIM...

but no we are spending 10 billion on a bullet train instead of looking at this sea IF NOT IMPROVE IT WHILE UR AT IT wow 10 billion on a train come on....
