@Ericstlaurent In June of this year (2011), Daniel Kawka and the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain (NOT the EIC!) recorded the final version of Dérive II with Boulez in attendance. The recording will eventually appear on Naïve. -Tassilo

I've been working 4 hours a day to get this vibraphone part in shape. At this rate I will know it in six months. First performance next week. There's so much here that arvidtom's comment below will take a long time to test. It will take many performances to achieve Boulez's vision. I think Le Marteau is really shaping up these days.

Anyway, this performance is excellent but doesn't have all of the nuance and shaping it will eventually.

Is there a recording of the new version yet ?

one of boulez's most passé sounding recent pieces. it's also a piece with a terribly boring uniformity, the music just goes on and on, wandering aimlessly.. I wonder whether this piece will stand the test of time, something's telling me it won't.
