I'm posting this with two of my best yt friends in mind, 65 reasons because this person likes classical music as well as Lettermen. Secondly Eman who with his father is a big Jim Pike fan.
The song is based on Chopin's etude in e minor.
It became very popular in the British club scene in the 70's, but with a totally different set of lyrics it was entitled "So deep is the night" I imagine just as many people will know it under this title.
Hope you all enjoy it!

  • Love this version by Jim Pike...ranks up there with Jo Stafford's.

Excusez, but who is Jim Pike, anyways?...never heard of him before.

    Thankyou,

    L.

  • @Layna8 Hi Layna, thanks for watching.... Jim is one of the original members of the Lettermen vocal trio.

  • Just came across your site looking for so deep is the night. What a voice.Im 75 years old and have heard most opf these versions.Yours ranks among the tops

  • @Ardmacha2 Thanks! Jim Pike's is certainly a great voice to discover... lots more on my channel if you want to take a look/listen!

  • Greetings. I invite your attention to the song "Symphony" by Johnny Mathis. (I tried to post a link. When I clicked "Post" it said, "Error, try again." So, just type in Johnny Mathis and "Symphony.")

To my ear it has a Chopinesque "feel" similar to Jim Pike's "No Other Love.," especially the arpeggiated piano. I think the two songs would make a great medley.

  • @dwsingrs Yes, just listened to it and have to agree, very Chopinesque....we now need volunteers to turn it into a medley!

  • @mrgarypike So nice to see your post on YT. It has been such a long time and the past leaves only warm memories of you and Jim and the music created by The Lettermen and now Reunion. Hope to hear more from you in the future, would love to see you and Jim again singing in concert. I know Jim enjoyed the celebration of his 75th birthday, forever young !!! Take care of you and let us know what you are up to. Enjoy your weekend !!!

  • Who is Jim Pike? The man with "the golden voice" and a personality to match. Gary, so nice to see your post. I hope life is treating you well. You and Jim are the best.

  • @Layna8 Who is Jim Pike ? He just happens to be my brother, and founder, and creative force of the famed Lettermen vocal group. All of the Lettermen are very good solo singers and are also posted on YT...

  • @26greenrose Thanks, Loyd, I always look forward to receiving your comments, they're great!

  • Thank you for the great memories.
