...' Other specifically American influences on the Symphony were the songs of Stephen Foster, perhaps(more doubtfully) the music of the North American Indians, and scenes from
Longfellow's Song of Hiawatha...' ( Anthony Burton)
Brilliant perform of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Bravissimo !

Brilliant ! Bravo !
-
thumbs up you are conducting while watching this masterpiece.

The C.B.S.O. has been fortunate in having Simon Rattle and now Andris Nelsons as their chief conductor, their playing would be on a par with orchestras like the New York Philharmonic or San Francisco S.O. these days

Antonin Dvorak :)

great timpanist , one of the best performances !!! amazing
-
lol press 7 repeatedly
-
It helps to be a Pied Piper to conduct a large orchestra! This man expresses more with his face and posture than anyone. Von Karajan would probably NOT approve!
:-)

Thanks RupertJones for sharing this excellent performance of the City of Birmingham Orchestra of one of the most beloved music ever.

this blows me away every time, there's so many dimensions and so much depth and I am in great admiration of Andris Nelsons here and i can safely say that Andris Nelsons is my idol and when I grow older (for I am only 14) I shall tell my children of Andris and the first time I saw this!
Bravo indeed!

This is one happy conductor.
This is the first time I've heard the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and I am very impressed. It was a great interpretation. It seems to me a young conductor and orchestra with incredible energy and musicianship. Bravo!
