  • Hmm - Is he only playing dubba C?

Thats is power from another planet!!!

  • @jayhig223 Are you serious? First of all how do you know about the supposed overdub at the tribute concert? Secondly, have you not all the videos there are of Wayne on you tube soloing? There are plenty to be looking at. Have you even heard any of his records?

  • @PINCHUNO You're saying that like Wayne has solo Chops. Have you ever heard the man improvise? They had to overdub his solo at the maynard tribute concert because it was so bad. Wayne can play high and sound good doing it. Amazing lead player, but stick him with a set of changes and he's sunk.

  • I think he's a find improviser. He came to my school once and played with our jazz band. The look on our lead players face was priceless when he play a scream solo, but he also improved without using his high range and it was really good. I mean yeah, he's not Wynton, but he's a damn good trumpet player. I just think he was trying to show off on this one haha.

  • @kdkn92 He's one of the best lead players pf all time, but he doesn't have enough solo chops to do a solo album like Wayne. They're both world class players that's obvious, but Roger isn't a jazz soloist.

  • My trumpet teacher had the privilege of studying personally with Roger. Many great techniques such as his compression practices have been such a huge help to my own lead playing. Great screamin D's. Man, I gotta get practicing. :]

  • Amazing!

  • Let us remember Roger is a lead player. If you don't understand how powerful of a player he is, please listen to the Woody Herman 50th Anniversary Album (live recording).

  • I may not be able to, but Dave Stahl can...that was my point. Rogers High chops are always great, but improv doesn't seem to fit.

  • if you could hold a candle to him, you wouldn't have said that.
