I don't mean lesser skilled in terms of him not being world class.

I mean lesser skilled in comparison to some of the guys closer to Zambidis' own weight. If the Headhunter had the skills of Masato, Souwer, Petrosyan or Buakaw, this would have gone the way of the Headhunter.

Same as how Pacquiao beating Margarito does not give any indication as to how he would fare against Mayweather, who while much closer to Pac-man's weight is much more skilled than most of Pac-man's opponents.

  • @MAS4T0 I would not say that fighters like the Headhunter are lesser skilled.

  • @Loukas1964

But the majority of the time, he fought guys the same weight...

He was (and is) the correct weight for the K1 Max tournament, and while he does invariably give away height, he more than makes up for it with power.

He has NEVER made it to the finals in the K1 Max tournament, at his own weight...

P4P is nonsense anyhow, but the fact remains that he wasn't the top dog in his own weight class, so beating lesser skilled fighters who were heavier does not really change anything.

  • @MAS4T0 For a guy that fights and usually defeats guys taller and heavier that him....that should say something!!!!

  • "Regarded as Pound for Pound the best kick-boxer in the world. He's been undefeated in Australia and the World for almost 5 years."

So does the loss to KOHI not count? More like undefeated for 10 months!

No disrespect to Mike, he is a legend, but seriously what are the announcers talking about. There's no denying that Mike was well aware that Zambidis was top 5 in the world at best...
