  • @littlemikey1954 (Part 4) My mother, horrified by his sudden indifference, said "I hope you understand that your grandfather is old and..."

I replied "You're the one who doesn't understand. Remember when you told me my grandfather's changer was not working? I cancelled a date, I said I'd be home late for dinner & I drove off."

"I noticed you left in a hurry!" she replied.

"I'd spent 21 years waiting & when you finally gave me the green light, I took off before you could change your mind."

  • @littlemikey1954 (Part 3) A stereo crystal cartridge was found & fitted. I played a few records. The changer was as good as new! So the next day, I said I would return my grandfather's changer. My mother wanted to see her dad's excitement so she came with me. But my grandfather, being quite old, forgot about the changer & was not the least interested in what I had done, making it clear that I had wasted my time. (to be continued)

  • @littlemikey1954(Part.2) "The changer worked but produced no sound." So I called my girlfriend to cancel our date. I told my mother I'd be a little late for dinner. I jumped into my car and was off to my grandfather's house.

I spent that evening in my room, studying and making adjustments on that changer, replacing the old grease with new grease.

That night, I lied awake, gazing at the ceiling, thinking of my trip to the city to locate a new cartridge. (to be continued)

  • The 45EY2 came out 1952. My grandfather had one. Wnen I was 4, in 1958, curiousity prompted me to climb up on the couch to get it off the shelf. Foresight prompted my mother to get me off the couch before I could get that changer.

As years went by, curiousity still lurked within me but I was told to leave things alone.

In 1979, I was an ET in the Navy and home on leave when my mother asked if I could look at my grandfather's changer which worked but produced no sou (to be continued.)

  • I have the same exact record player. It's in the shop now getting the eject to work again. It's been in the family since new.
