[Part 2]
I decided I was in no mood to go home and listen to Nick talk about his attempts to get girls and complaints about homework so I got in my car and went to the beach. The same beach I'd spent with her all summer. I sat on the rocks and stared out at the sunset. I'd missed it here.
Memories started flooding back. All the moments we'd spent together. Everything had been perfect. Her hand in mine- the way they fit perfectly. All the times she'd laugh at my jokes. The time she kissed me and the way her lips felt on mine. The memory of her birthday when I'd given her that bracelet with our names engraved on it.
Then that dreadful day flashed in my mind. My best friend, Demi, admited her love for me. She, not knowing about Miley, kissed me and Miley, who unexpectedly showed up at my house, saw everything and left me saying 'She need time...' and 'she needed to think about us...'. Turns out, she ended up getting back together with Liam instead.
I always wondered if she'd remembered all we had planned. We'd planned to go to see her dad in Tennessee for Christmas and visit my family in Texas on Thanksgiving. And not to mention college. We'd planned on going to NYU to study music and acting together. She just threw all that away without even hearing me out. Without even questioning if anything had actually happened. She just let all we had, fall apart.
I was brought from my thoughts when I heard crying. I turned around to find Miley standing about 10 feet away with tears streaming down her cheeks. She ran towards me, burying her face in my t-shirt as she wrapped her small arms around my torso. "What happened?" I asked, forgetting all about our past. She looked up at me, tears still streaming down her blotchy face. I pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and wiped her tears away with my thumb. "Liam?" I asked. She nodded, biting her lip. I pulled her close. "Shhhh...He's not worth it." I whispered, kissing the top of her head. No matter how many times I say it, she never seems to listen.
"No...but you are..." She whispered through sobs. "You were all I ever wanted and needed and I just threw you aside for some guy that wanted nothing to do with me...I'm so stupid." I shook my head and held her face in between my hands.
"You're not stupid...stubborn maybe, but not stupid." I reassured her. She smiled through her tears. "Liam is an idiot for doing that to such a beautiful, loving girl..."
"You didn't actually kiss her did you?" Miley asked. I shook my head.
"I actually haven't spoken to Demi since it happened." I replied. "She ruined the best thing that ever happened to me and I honestly don't think I can forgive her for that."
"I should've let you explain..." Miley muttered, guilty. I shook my head.
"I can see why you were mad. I would be too." I reassured her. She looked down.
"I thought you were just like him..." She muttered. 'Him being Liam.' I thought to myself. "I thought you were just using me like he did. I just ran away. I couldn't take any more heart breaks like that. They're too painful." I just nodded.
"Trust me, Mi, I would never do that to you. You deserve so much better." I reassured her. She smiled through her tears. We just sat there for a few minutes, listening to the waves beating against the rocks. Her head was on my shoulder and my arms were wrapped around her waist. I miss sitting like this, when we didn't fight, when it was just us and the waves.
"Joe...?" He soft voice came from my shoulder. I lifted my head from on top of her's and gave her a look telling her to continue. She smiled and looked down. "Do you think we could ever be the same again? Like we use to be?"
I smiled. Just thinking about being with her made me happy. "I think we could. Do you?" She nodded, her brown hair bouncing slightly. "Do you want to?"
"More than anything." She replied. I smiled down at her.
"Then Miley?" I began. She giggled.
"Yes, Joe?" She replied, going along with it.
"Would you like to be my girlfriend again?" She nodded.
"Yes, Joe. I would love to." I smiled and put my hands on either side of her face and kissed her with all the passion I'd had bottled up for the past few months.
From then on, life went as planned. We went to Texas with my family for Thanksgiving where we enjoyed two weeks with my parents, Frankie, Kevin and Danielle, and Nick and his new girlfriend, Selena(yes he finally got a girl). In December, both our families flew out to her dad's house to celebrate Christmas and the following year, we both went off the NYU to study acting and music. Life is good, I can't complain. I got my girl that I love beside me and that's all that matters.
