  • 4:04 That was such a beautiful melody for its time. I loved it when they remade the song for DQ VIII, for when you fly as the bird. The song definitely had the feeling of freedom in the skies.

  • @MrPhantoful at least they reuse AWESOME music! XD

  • THE BEGINNING OF 5:47... JUST SEEMS SO SAD, THEN EPIC

  • @legendaryhero90 Love that song at 1:42. Brings back so many fond memories.

  • @RookFrjosa Excellent comments. I believe nostalgia is a serious force in regards to gamers who have played NES or original Game Boy games, but there is something to be said for the limited minimalism of such games. Newer games can be great fun yet leave little to one's imagination.

  • old games were blessed with significantly less capacity to present a particular vision or idea (usually, this is a technological limitation) as the game would try to mimic something (anything) we all can recognize, but be forced to condense it to a simple iconic representation of it's real-world counterpart (people/items/locales) and it was the player's job to make the leap of logical suspension and use the imagination to fill in any gaps. Thus gaming was a far more subjective experience.

  • Most new age games are devoid of player imagination, so it becomes far harder to immerse yourself in it because as a player, you do not have any reason to cognitively invest your imagination in it (this is why people like art - it connects on a subjective level) Current-age games generally are saturated with the ambitious vision of the creators, and that turns it into a work of art that is not subjective because there is no room for the player, but an objective snapshot of someone else's vision.

  • Ah my favorite Dragon Quest game. Love it.

  • Damnit Square Enix, you really have ran out of ideas.

0:16 music at the intro of DQ IX

    2:24 DQ IX grotto music

4:03 DQ IX story telling time

.... DAMN IT ENIX STOP REUSING MUSIC
