This early revival recording made in N.O. in 1940 has Kid Rena on trumpet, Jim Robinson tbn, Louis Nelson and Alphonse Picou clt (a familiar Picou solo is included here) Willie Santigo gtr, Albert Glenny bs (played with Buddy Bolden) Joe Rena dms.

  • I love the rich, low-register playing of Louis Nelson ( the first clarinet solo ), arguably the first blues/jazz clarinetist in jazz history.
