Israeli lobby disapprove Argentina's dialogue with Iran

Argentina's diplomatic mission i the United Nations General Assembly has shown a turning point in relations with Iran.


Unlike US and European representatives, the Argentine Ambassador to the UN, Jorge Argüello, remained in his seat and listened to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad while he was addressing his speech in New York.

The position of the South American country followed President Cristina Fernandez statement in which she accepted Iran's call to hold "constructive dialogue" regarding the investigation of the AMIA Jewish Center bombing that took place in Buenos Aires in 1994.

Both political gestures have caused strong reactions and pressures from Israeli lobbies in Argentina. These lobbies have publicly criticized Argentina's position and expressed their disappointment over Iran's commitment to cooperate in the investigation of the AMIA case.

The international analyst Adrian Salbuchi celebrated Argentina's new foreign policy agenda and explained that the Jewish communities respond to pro-Israeli interests.

According to Mr. Salbuchi, the terrorist attack investigation has been wrinkled with corruption and conducted in a wrong way.

Argentina's support to the Palestinian statehood bid has also led to severe criticism from the leaders of the Jewish community who stated that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can not be resolved through a "UN procedure" but through a "negotiated peace".
