Iona was formed during the late eighties and released their self-titled debut album in 1990. The band covers a number of styles including Celtic, progressive rock and even jazz and Christian elements.

All the bands albums have received critical acclaim, as have the bands live performances over the years.

The mainstays of the band are Dave Bainbridge, Joanne Hogg and David Fitzgerald and former Kajagoogoo bassist Nick Beggs was a one-time member although. There have also been some high profile guests perform with the band on their albums over the years including King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp. The band are these days also joined by respected multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley.

Following a very productive period when the various members produced solo albums and in the case of Dave Bainbridge and Troy Donockley a series of duo recordings and concerts. Iona has reunited to great acclaim and success.

This DVD captures the band in fine form in front of a wildly enthusiastic crowd at the end of November 2004. In addition to the normal stereo options the performance has been mixed personally by Dave Bainbridge to stunning effect in the 5.1 format.

In addition to the live performance the DVD will include extras such as interviews and a picture gallery.

Iona have built up a formidable fan base over the last fifteen years and this DVD will be welcomed by the large and dedicated fan base waiting for the release which comes ahead of a new studio album which is expected sometime in mid 2006.

  • Im an atheist but I bought many Iona and Bainbridge albums and am about to see them live only based on the strength and power of their music. They can build a bridge. As an atheist I do listen to muslim hindu and buddhist music, and Iona takes the christian spot.

  • They have faith

    They have creativity

    They do it so well!!!

    Iona is the best

  • @TOREMJ

I am an atheist.. agnostic... some sort of non-religious type, as well. I don't know if I've ever heard a more beautiful voice than Joanne Hogg. Christian or not who cares.... she's an incredible talent with an incredible voice.

  • @TOREMJ I'm sorry...I hate being "that guy"....but I hope you will truely explore taking Christ, who physically rose from the dead, into your heart. He knows you, and wants you to know Him. His sacrifice paves our way to eternal life - not our good works as the Muslims would say. And, idol worship is ridiculous, they were carved with human hands. There is a living God who created you and sees His divine creation when he looks at you. I pray you will respond to His love. U love great music.

  • I S2 IONA

Só achu que Iona deveria tocar M.P.B em algumas de suas musicas.

  • @chibicat13 Actually, it hasn't been debunked. But you just keep on trying, if you so wish.

  • I was an atheist back in 1996 when my best friend introduced Iona's 'Journey Into The Morn' to me. The best present a friend could make. It was my first step to becoming a Christian. Thanks, Gunnar!

  • Quelle bonne celtitude...je viens de découvrir et vais approfondir!!!

    merci pour le partage

  • @hifiguy9 You are DEFINITELY not a Christian.

  • i first found out about them when I found their cd in the library I had no idea they were Christian their music is powerful and full of Christ they really know how to worship god!,

  • @TOREMJ I personally prefer Georgian polyphonic chant, Byzantine chant, and Corsican polyphonic chant.

  • @hifiguy9

I can tell you know little about science. And why do you care about ouija boards? I know how those work too...

Do you believe in unicorns? Ra? Thor? I bet you don't for good reasons, those would be the same reasons I don't believe in any deity.

We are ALL atheist when it comes to some gods, I just go one god further, and that should not concern you. I like IONA, that's no reason to try and convert me to a club that won't benefit you if I join.

Just let it go and enjoy the band.

  • @chibicat13 Your daddy Lou has really influenced you for sure. I think the only thing that has been debunked is your brain probably wasting countless nights playing with your ouija board. Funny how you will call out to the prince of darkness whom you have no proof of existence and still deny the very being that created all things including him. You should just quit breathing the air God created since you can't see the proof of it's existence. You will be in my prayers. Peace!

  • @hifiguy9

The bible has been debunked countless times. I can't lie to myself after knowing so much. I am godless and free so therefore anything regarding religion wont effect me.

Believe in what you want, and I'll just not believe in it.

    Cheers.

  • @chibicat13 The key that God has shown to prove His word is true are the infallable prophecies that have been 100 % fullfilled to date with still more to come in the not too distant future, a future tribulation that you will surely experience if you do not study to approve yourself and learn that God says believe and have faith first , then I will show you proof of My existence. His visible proof is this wonderful creation if that isn't already enough. Spiritual proof happens accepting Him.

  • @metalzboy

That is something that many Christans seem to have in common these days...

They always say "You did not answer my question" despite the answer being provided, I gave you a answer, you just didn't like it.

Once again, my answer is "I will not give my life to christ because you are unable to prove a god or that the bible is true"

I would know if religion was important to me, and it's not, it's ONLY important to the believer.

    Peace.

  • @chibicat13 its not important to me,its important to you, seeing as how you wont answer my question...i'll move on,Have a nice life dude,Jesus Loves you

  • @metalzboy

What are you talking about? "Give me one more chance" What are you gonna do?

I already answered your question. I am fully aware that you are unable to prove that god and the bible are true, therefore whatever you say your 'proof' is won't have any effect on me, so I guess in your terms... no, I would not give my life to christ (you wouldn't give your life to Thor would you?)

My disbelief in fables have no impact on your life, so why is it so important to you that I believe anyway?

  • @chibicat13 you didnt answer my question.....i'll give you one more chance,re-read my post

  • @metalzboy

You're talking from an emotional standpoint, not rational. The thing is, you can't prove to me that the bible and a god is real, and why it it important to you that I believe in one? You believe what you want, just keep other people out of it.

Also... I have all of Iona's albums, and god is not mentioned in all of the songs, only some of them.

I love for legitimate reasons, not because a fable threatens me to.

    Peace.

  • @chibicat13 wow, your wrong on every point you just made, including the remark about God not being mentioned in Ionas music, now my next question is,if i proved everything you said was wrong to you, would you give your life to Christ?

  • @metalzboy

Actually, reading the bible was what made me into a atheist, god is such a immoral character. But how I became a atheist doesn't matter, I have always loved Iona, their songs are about love, not many of them have reference to god when I think about it.
