Somewhere in Time, by pianist Jim Bajor, is a special collection of nostalgic musical works from the great composers of yesteryear. The stylings of Gershwin, Porter, Ellington and Rogers and Hart are performed on acoustic piano, taking the listener on a pleasing walk down memory lane. This recording features songs such as "Someone To Watch Over Me," "My Funny Valentine," and of course "Somewhere In Time." ~ MusD, All Music Guide

Bio / Background

Jim Bajor started playing piano at the age of five. This love of music has constituted his entire lifetime. After taking 25 years of private lessons and studying Music and Jazz at Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan Jim began to embark on a lifelong career in music. He had always wanted to record his own compositions and this dream was realized in 1986 with a grassroots recordings of his "AWAKENING" then only available on LP. That recording has consequently been re-recorded digitally and is now available on CD and either is or will be here at CD Baby.

This was the beginning of Jims own record company. JBX Records. The digital version of AWAKENING did so well that in 1987 it was nominated for the new-age acoustic Grammy Award. Although Jim didn't win he was in the top five.Totally through self-promotion Jim's two CD's went on to sell well over 100.000 units. This attracted the attention of some in dependant labels in the early 1990's.

Never liked this standard until know - here is the melody re-defined, and played with brilliant artistry. When I read a few moments ago on another of this superb musician's postings that Mr Bajor is no longer alive after a senseless car accident, I could hardly bare listening to this impossibly beautiful playing. What a loss.
