sorry, but after 1969 it's been nothing but a blur of knock-offs, rehash, and, in the best of cases, development, of one of these:
Dylan (the singer/songwriter poet) (any list without him is peripheral, so just make him a one-man band)
Beatles (the world-wide media sensation)
Supremes (the super-female pop act)
Stones (the bad boys)
Hendrix (the guitar solo)
Not to say knock-offs aren't fresh and new to their generation, but being knock-offs, they're just footnotes.

guns 'n' roses switch with ac\dc ...metallica 1 then van halen...perl jam switch whit red hot chili pepers... then i would completely agree
