I think that this video shows that P.Lock's early stuff had something special: it had funk.
His current and later stuff is kool, but seems to be too focused on the technical and seems to have lost some of the "dancing" that is displayed in this very early video.
I guess you can't reclaim your youth when you didn't know what you were doing was just sooo cool. How does one recreate that exuberance and fun that oozes out of this routine? dunno, but this vid shows the fun factor!

I think that P Lock was training with Junior (Almeida) from BoogieLockers in those days...
And Junior IS the funk! He had some influence on P Lock, for sure! Now, P Lock has developped a more personal style.

@br00577 I agree. This is totally different and the "funk" is the X factor. He's almost too clean now to have that same swagger and bounce in his step. The new stuff is straight ill, but focuses a lot on negative space where he'll stop dancing to pull out a dramatic move. This is more fluid, but by accident. I wish old p lock and new p lock were different dancers, so we could still have both styles today. He's juts about the best at either style of locking.

@66228539 Or do you mean the studio is made in Japan?

@66228539 Locking is made in Japan? It originated in California from Don Campbell and The Lockers during the 60s-70s. It was called "Campbellocking" and later "Locking".
