Michael Savage - Abram Hoffer Passing Away and his Contributions to Health and Vitamins - (6/3/09)

Abram Hoffer, M.D., Ph.D., a co-founder of Orthomolecular Medicine and one of the most noteworthy and influential figures in alternative, natural, and nutritional medicine for six decades, died on May 27, 2009. He was 92, and passed away after a brief illness in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where he lived and practiced medicine and psychiatry since 1976. Hoffer was also a sensitive and compassionate clinician in the best traditions of healing, consistently putting his patients, and their individual needs, first. Sometimes criticized from afar for his controversial views, he was beloved by his many patients and close colleagues. He devoted his life to the goal of curing, not palliating, schizophrenia.

I had a shrink who prescribed me Niacinamide and Vitamin-C (1,000 mg. 3x a day with food), Brewers' Yeast, to be taken with food and then with daily exercise. I had this shrink in my late teens and he gave me these and other vitamis instead of Ritalin or Dexedrine. It took about three months, but his advice worked and my GPA at school improved. His name was Dr. Richard A. Kunin. Dr. Savage talks about him in his book about Alzheimers.
