John Ikerd is a great and inspiring speaker on energy issues. Here's a small segment from a talk given at the 2nd US Conference on Peak Oil and Community Solutions in the Fall of 2005.

  • we should tax hydrocarbon, and try to use less.

  • When oil, gas and coal are extracted for energy, it's inevitable you get CO2. All the talk about reducing CO2 translates exactly into limiting extraction. Yeah right. Cap and guard the wells.... In our dreams! The corps want cap-and-trade, to squeeze money out of us for "CO2 rights" which they then buy and sell among the corporate sector. We want to TAX HYDROCARBON PRODUCTION hard!
