BH5H and a 1 x 12 BH112 cabinet. I have changed the tubes. I replaced the EL84 with a Mesa engineering EL84. I replaced the 12AX7R with a Groove Tube 12AX7R. I am playing a 1992 Fender American standard Stratocaster with GHS 11s. I am playing through an Electro-Harmonix HolyGrail reverb pedal as this amp does not have a built in reverb. I am also playing through a Voodoo labs Sparkle Drive pedal, which is awesome.

  • im getting this amp soon and i want to change the tubes what do you guys think the best pair for this is, im thinking ehx or jj's cant make my mind up lol

  • has the sound of the tube overdrive and breakup changed at all with the mesa el84?

  • @motokev Loud enough for band practice/jamming?

  • Sounds Excellent!

  • @coughlintm oh kk thx

  • Well hendrix did not use overdrive pedals. Just go for a fuzz and clean it up with your guitars volume.

  • I tried a JJ el84 and was almost the same as the chinese el84, hard to notice any difference.

  • can that overdrive pedal do a hendrix tone?

  • Sounds great

Ive today ordered the bh112 combo for £200 .... Dont think it will be much different from the cab n head! I hope so anyway, it sounds awesome
