Something flew over 22L and 22R causing an American 767 to go around 22L to avoid it. Later ended up closing 22R for 5 Police helicopters to search for him and forcing several aircraft to divert due to being restricted to one runway. Seemed to come down to about 10-20 feet off the cargo ramp possibly dropping an object and then climbing to 1000 feet flying outbound on a 030hdg on an active final approach!

  • I'm a little late on this but I'm a powered paraglider and free flight paraglider pilot and if that. Was a ppg the pilot was violating every FAA rule we are required to follow as well as just being stupid for flying within tower controlled space .

Just the turbulence from as passing aircraft can be extremely dangerous if not deadly from a non recoverable wing collapse Just plain stupid

  • it ain't worked

  • Travel at 25mph and stick your head out your sunroof. That thing is moving pretty good for what it is!

  • I looked it up and powered paragliders travel about 25 m/hr.

  • Well I am a paraglider, no personal experience as a powered paraglider. But yes powered paragliders can be in the flat lands of Kansas and ascend and accelerate with no wind...they have trike engines, or small rotax engines.

  • @ aeronauticstud:

I'm frustrated because I just got through discussing this with some paragliders who dismissed it as a hoax. Where did you get this audio from? According to the paragliders I discussed this with, the 2 or 3 articles on this topic were based off of your video and no other source.

All I wanted was to see if a paraglider could be rules out by the flight/operating characteristics.

    Please let me know...

  • Dude your an idiot. He was given the wrong communication frequency and was flying, what we call "transmitting in the blind" with a bad frequency. Thats not what this video is about.

  • SlackerSlayer...your comment is inaccurate and ignorant. The pilot did nothing wrong but not look outside enough. He was in a low wing aircraft with a helicopter below him. He was doing what he was told by ATC. His ATC controller was on the telephone with his girlfriend talking about a dead cat found at his control tower and never gave the airplane a traffic advisory like he was required to. SO...the controller was, "...just doing what he wanted to without regard to regulation". NOT THE PILOT!

  • Yes, it's D.B. Cooper. He's been up in the air for 38 years now.
