Are You a Dog or a Cat Person?
Most of us would say were one or the other, and a new study finds that the animals we like say a lot about us. According to CNN, researchers at the University of Texas asked 4,500 people a series of personality questions to gauge whether they were introverted or extroverted, agreeable or neurotic. They then asked the participants if they considered themselves cat people or dog people. They found that dog people are typically more extroverted and less neurotic than cat people. Cat people, on the other hand, were more creative and philosophical, but far less social and outgoing than dog people.

Sam Goslin is a psychologist and the lead author on the study. He says it makes sense that certain personalities are drawn to certain animals. Dogs are more social creatures; they like to hang out and be around humans. Theyre perfect animals for people who are outgoing and love to lavish attention on other living things. Cats, on the other hand can be more stand-offish and independent. They want human interaction for a while but when theyre over it, they disappear.

This study wasnt just about seeing who liked what. According to Goslin, the goal was to help doctors find the right animal for people undergoing pet therapy. Pet therapy is a treatment where patients with mental health issues or physical challenges work with animals to overcome their problems, and its been proven to help everyone from cancer patients to troubled teens. The trick to pet therapy is that the patient needs to connect with the animal. Without a solid connection the treatment may not work. So matching up personality types is a way doctors can find the right pet for the right patient.

  • Cat person tend to be dominated by their pet while dog person tend to dominate over their pet.. which also indicates a bit of personality differences

  • I consider myself a catman, but I still love dogs. I'd be very happy to have a dog in my life too.

  • @Tihbialdunav Not really.I don't believe you can be a one animal person. It all depends on what you prefer. Cat lovers don't usually mind dogs, and dog lovers don't usually mind cats. Personally, I'm partial to dogs because I grew up with them. However, I wouldn't mind having a cat either.

  • My bro is very outgoing and he kind of is annoying like that but if you place a cat and a dog in front of him he will go up to the cat and be like "Can we keep him/her?" So this is not entirely true. My sister is also a cat person. I am a cat person and my mom is a cat person. My dad is neither a cat person or a dog person. ^-^

  • i do like puppies and kittens

  • when i saw a cat i was like a cat magnet they love me but when i see ugh a dog they scared of me cuz well i hate them and they dont scared me i was biten by so much cats they dont even hurt me cuz they kno i dont take shet and when a dog tries to oh i slap it and it backs away its true

  • I am 100% DOG person! I have two that i love to take out and show off in the neighborhood.

  • Thats so confusing coz i'm an extrovert AND an introvert....it depends on the situation....i thought i was a dog person but now i'm not sure..

  • I have 10 cats, two dogs and a bunch of hamsters.

  • Cats are for introverts, dogs are for extroverts...Yes, it's that simple.

    Definately cats for me, thankyouverymuch.
