  • I just have a few questions...

    1. what happened to the rest of the daylight cars?

    2. why is the external water car on the intersection of Central Ave and Broadway Blvd in N.E Minneapolis?

    3. going along with the passenger car why do they have the Olympian Hiawatha observation car... what happened to the daylight observation car?

by the way, this video is really good...

if anyone wants to answer these questions, please do so!

    enlighten my ignorant mind.

  • 1. because this was a fundraiser fort he MILW 261

2.the 4449 is in Minneapois until the 12th of october

    3. same as 1

    Thanks

  • I was around the first curve there at Savanna. Sounded really cool when she slipped the drivers.

  • When it left Savanna after getting serviced it slipped big time.

  • I have to wait all the way to August :(

    Great catch! And Nice Video.

  • I'll be there August 2nd, i don't know what time the 4449 is going to be there so be there kinda early because it is leaving Chicago at 8:00am

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • @chico4449 It's very unlikely you will ever see the daylight cars on excursion ever again. Due to increased insurance rates, a big sponsor is needed to keep prices below $500 a seat. This means begging amtrak to help. Amtrak won't help unless the cars are amtrak approved. In order to make that happen, each car must be capable of carrying several megawatts of electricity. The modifications to do this would cost tens of thousands per car and add several tons to what are already heavy cars.

  • What a love.....

  • THANKS :D! yeah... i sort of answered my own question... I will be riding 4449 to Winona and back on Sunday, Oct 11. I am so excited! I have been wanting to do this since i was three years old, who would have know it would take 15 years to do it. ha ha. SO EXCITED!

  • Probably wouldn't be that different from the business train, actually.

  • This makes me wonder what an entirely BNSF passenger train in the current visual identity would look like.
