Think back to the last Western movie you watched. Heck, think back to any Western you've ever watched. Did you ever see a black cowboy anywhere? Okay, maybe Cleavon Little in Blazing Saddles, other than that, movie Westerns are lily white. Now what do you say to the historical fact that 1 out of every 6 cowboys was African-American? tomorrowpictures.TV correspondent Greg Clarkson set out to find the modern black cowboy at the nation's only black rodeo, the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo!

  • The Rodeo is a great place to see up close Cowboys in action. Most people don't no the name of those Africans Cowboys who live in the Old west, men like Bose Ikard, deadwood dick (Nate Love) Mary Fields, One horse Charlie, Bob Lemmon, Isom Dart, and many more. They were documented in paintings by a African American Artis, along with a lot of history on the

AfricanCowboys web site. Paintings with a lot of history.

  • Ride'em Wear

  • Love this...

  • man i like these guys better than them damn rap fuckers

  • Let it be known to all ignorants & bigots in america...

in the history of the west, most cowboys in the west were black cowboys. to be a cowboy was real tough work & only the strongest & toughest men could handle this type of work that did not pay much as compared to other jobs such a blacksmith.

the best cowboys were black because they were the toughest. that is why they were hired on most often by the cattle ranchers.

so spare us the foolishness of the previous poster & go get educated.

  • Are you rider? I don't think, but me I am Bull rider. And I hope to have competition with them. Black or White; NO difference in the rodeo. Just the feeling in spirit.

    Poor person you are ....
