Red Hot Chili Peppers' Californication Solo Ver 2

A much more recent attempt. I consider my playing to have improved a lot since the original (which still gets puzzlingly high ratings) with more accurate bends etc.
Actually recorded this one properly too, although youtube sucks the quality out of the recording.

Yeah, i agree what Martin says .. In this video, your technique is alot better! It's not exaclty like the solo in the song, but this was still really good!

Cheers :-) I tend to try and just get something which gets the vibe of the song, rather than get it note for note perfect. The latter is just very hard work!

Yeah, I watched both videos, and you've made good progress man. I think the 'tone' in the first vid is better, but your technique has clearly improved. Why is the tone better in the first one?

Well, you're using a Pacifica, which is a Strat copy, and gives you those single-coil tones which matches Frusciante's sound better. I know the old amp was a piece of shit, but for low-volume situations.. a small amp will give you a better tone than a 50W valve head. Plus, you used nice reverb before :-)

Thanks for the reply. :-) Yeah I agree, I should really have done this on my Pacifica but it needs setting up at the moment so I was a bit lazy. I'd just got the amp too so was playing about with it and wanted to use it for something! lol

I'll do another version with my Pacifica (well, the entire song as it's about time!) with the neck single coil. Should get a much closer tone too. This amp has a fantastic reverb, I'm just getting used to using it. Very deep valve reverb.

wow it was very good, although the effects were a bit different then the orignal solo.

The only mistake i really noticed were on the 2nd part you hit a 15 on the high e instead of a 14
