@rondack17 One further point - Arnel is a hell of a lot younger than Steve, not that this helps him much. I don't mind Arnel singing his own songs but get so sick of anyone saying they can in any way compare to Steve Perry. Steve Perry was in a class of his own and ALWAYS WILL BE. Its just as bad when Dean said that Steve Augeri was Steve Perry with a perm. I understand he had to mime through most of his songs , so although he had a pleasant voice he was not in the same league as SP .

@rondack17 Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I personally don't want to listen to anyone TRYING to sing Journey songs now. You seem to have forgotten that Arnel can't sing "Mother, Father", the drummer does, as Arnel would choke himself trying. Perhaps Steve hasn't got quite the same range at 62 but NO-ONE will ever create the TRUE sound of Journey now and they should accept they will never be as popular without Steve - perhaps that's why they are touring with two other bands!!

@2006juneanne It was a hard rock crowd waiting 4 KISS. Yes, they were bored with Ballads. Watch some of the harder rocking songs they did & crowd was fine. No this was not Arnels best rendition of this song. However, I have seen other vids of him singing this song & he sounds really good. Regardless, Steve Perry can't sing live anymore. His voice is shot. Y can't you folks understand that SP could'nt sing 4 Journey now even if he wanted 2 ? He's 62 now. NO way he can hit the notes Arnel can

Are the audience all going home? I can't say i blame them no matter how much i try to convince myself i can hear no resemblance to Steves voice at all.True Steve fans would be able to tell the difference within the first two notes.I feel kind of sorry for Arnel in a way cos hes only doing what he enjoys doing but is being made to look a prat by Neal who has to tour to pay all those ex wives.where is all the emotion,from the singer & audience another big clue its not the original Journey.

I had to watch this to believe it. The crowd certainly look attentive don't they? BORED more like. If anyone says that Arnel is drawing the same crowds as Steve used to direct them to this video. There is no atmosphere, the crowd aren't with them or seem to be enjoying it at all and in fact some are leaving - I don't blame them as I would have left too. There is no-one on this planet could replace Steve Perry or make Journey the band they used to be.

@jannierocks you took the words right out of my mouth. Check out the Open Arms live in Houston Journey video posted by PRINCEV1 of Steve Perry singing this song with Journey. The crowd goes crazy. Those people look like they wish they were anywhere else but there.Where is this concert being held? It looks like it's in someone's yard compared to the venues Journey used to perform at when Steve was their lead singer.
