During the ten-day closure of the route, the larger metal part of the viaduct has been removed and the temporary road completed. The road is now open and in less than a week, all the other metal parts of the viaduct have been removed. Work is now concentrating on removing the roadway from the eastern end and demolition of the brick arch bridge over the river in preparation for construction of a new road level bridge using the original buttresses.
Hi there. Great capture. I have to questions for you. I was born and lived in Leicester on the lea manor easte. How far is this route from there? 2nd question what is the camera that you use? Thanks!

Hi, I've lived in Leicester all my life (67 years!) and have never heard of Lea Manor estate. Where is it near? Upperton Road links Narborough Road and Aylestone Road. The viaduct is (or was) near the Narborough Road end.
I used a Canon S5 IS camera, tripod mounted in the footwell in front of the passenger's seat.

From Beaumont Leys, go along Abbey Lane, Blackbird road, Fosse Road (Nth. Central & Sth). Turn left onto Upperton Road just before the railway bridge. Hope this helps.
