@MrVoss94: much like in a car, sliding is NOT the fastest way around the track. sure it looks cool and is fun as hell, but one you break the tyre's limit, you are gripping less, and hence going slower, than if you kept within the limits of the tyres. the fastest you can go is at 99.999% of your tyres limits, but as soon as you break 100% and slide, you are losing time.... but gaining major fun and style points :)

@Rtype1000 On dirt, sliding is unavoidable. These bikes are primarily dirt bikes not made for real on-track cornering so they are a bit of an exception. But 98% of the time keeping traction will get you around a corner faster. they are spending 3 secs locking up the rear when they could go deeper and brake for only 1 sec. They are losing momentum at the apex when they grab and are slowing their exit speed down.

@SpeedyC362 So worldchampions in Supermoto slide to be ... slow? And rally driver slide to be slow? In slow wery tight bends, braking rear wheel traction is the way to go.
