The Impossible Promise *Chapter 21*

Joe looked fierce in his aviator shades and all black ensembles. He scanned the bustling airport curb before popping his shaggy head back into the SUV.
All clear.
Nick nodded, and Demi stepped cautiously out of the vehicle, flanked on her side by Kevin. Her ears were still ringing from the numerous press conferences that morning.
Uh-oh.
Demi turned, and with a sinking feeling in her stomach beheld a sizable swarm of paparazzi and fans swarming towards them. She turned to the comfort of the SUV but it was already halfway down the street.
I cant do this. There were too many of them. She was beginning to feel overwhelmed, and for an instant she wondered why on earth she had ever wanted to be famous.
Joe looked at her. Of course you can. Its just another fan encounter. We sign a few autographs, then Big Rob here helps us get inside.
Demi sighed, stopped fidgeting with her purple rocker tee, and slipped on her own shades. She was ready. And they descended upon them, screaming fainting girls and flashing cameras manned by crass and grisly looking people. But Demi only concentrated in the girls screaming her name, and the pens and papers shoved at her from all angles to sign. A photographer roughly pushed his way through to her, and as he lifted his large lens inches from her face she instinctively stepped back. She put on a smile for a few young girls and hugged many more. Then they were moving again. Joe stood by her side, blocking the irritating flash of the cameras. And she focused on the back of Big Robs shirt as he cleared a pathway inside.
