Baby Isabelle wears BumGenius cloth diapers. Kelly's Closet (http://bitly.com/diaperlink)

Many of the experienced parents we spoke with before Isabelle arrived laughed at the thought of using cloth diapers. Cloth diapers were thought of as a nice thing to save the planet but WAY too much work. Not true in our experience.

We actually found using BumGenius cloth diapers to be not much more difficult than buying then bringing thousands of disposable diapers out to the trash can every week.

We wouldn't do it any other way.

  • Really helpful vid. Thank you! What solution do you use to wipe baby's bum? Just water?

  • Thanks :-)

We saw some info on using re-usable cloth wipes and many of them have some kind of solution. We frankly found just using some warm water on our cloth wipes worked fine.

To us, not having soapy or other residues seems like the best way to go during the day. This has worked for nearly 2 years for us.

We think that using just water during diaper changes and then having a nice bath with a bit of soap at the end of the day is sufficient.

  • very helpful! Im definitely using cloth diapers once my little one arrives

  • Thank you!

  • very informative. thank you so much!

how many diapers do you have/use? our baby is coming home soon (he was 8 weeks early) and we're trying to figure out what we'll need.

    thanks again.

  • We got 30 diapers for our little girl. We're going to try an additional 12 diapers from Kelly's Closet now that we're expecting our second.

Since we will still need to wash every two days (don't want too many dirty diapers hanging around), we're going to get another diaper pail since one baby seems to fill up the diaper pail in 2 days or so.

  • This is great! Thanks so much for sharing. I'm due in September and my husband is hesitant to use cloth as we've received negative comments from other parents urging us to use disposable. I can't believe the resistance we get to using cloth. It is better for your baby, better for the environment and cheaper. It's really a no-brainer.

  • How GREAT it is to see a father so active in raising his child!

Love these diapers too so we intend to purchase some for our daughter to try with our first grandchild! :o) Great, Informative video! Thanks so Much!!

  • It's refreshing to see a man doing a diaper video. I will see if I can get my husband to do one when our daughter is about a year old. We've been using cloth since the moment she was born!

  • who can send me some cloth diapers

  • Could you tell me how many pounds/months Isabelle was when you started cloth? I have been using BG 3.0s with my toddler but am trying to figure out what I need to diaper a newborn. I hear it takes a while for them to fit?

  • thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it and received a lot of information as well.

  • What type of detergent do you use for washing the diapers?

  • this is a great video :) I am planning on using cloth diapers on our baby. I wish you can do an update video. Until when did you use cloth diapers? did you use other brand of cloth diapers? Did you encounter any problems like stinky diapers and how did you deal with them? And what brand of detergent would you recommend and what solution did you use for cloth wipes? I really hope you can update us on these :) Thank you!

  • Great video, thanks!!

  • Where did you buy them?

  • Awesome Video..thanks...Very Helpful...

  • I'm not married, nor do I have any children, but I believe it's never too early to take notes on how I want to care for any children I may have. I reconnected with a friend I'd gone to Christian Camp as grade schoolers and she's all about motherhood, breastfeeding, and going green while caring for her own children. So I wanted to see what options I have as possibly a future wife and mother. Appreciate the insight. : )
