The Franz Josef room at The House on the Rock in Wisconsin. As road-side attractions go, this place is a must see. The architecture and collections are absolutely madcap but my favorite thing is the amazing collection of vintage mechanical bands this guy has amassed. Amazing to see.

  • I remember this when i was 5

  • Back in the '70s they had a much better maintenance program and really kept all of these machines in order and in real time (no prerecorded music) at all. This is one of the better representations on video, thanks for posting

  • @KawhackitaRag

    Ah, Ok.

  • @Wurlitzer157 it DOES play, it's just that what you're seeing isn't the same as what you're hearing, except for the percussion :)

  • @KawhackitaRag

    So this doesn't even play?

It's just pre recorded or synthesized?

  • @nicolaj0154 being slightly out of tune is part of what makes it 'the house on the rock.'

  • 0:26-0:28 LOL =) Very nice barrel-orchestrion!

  • the orchestra needs some tuneing.

  • hey, do you still have the original video?,

can you so please post it?.

  • I like the "trippiness"! I've been to HOTR several times in my life and felt like I was trippin' the entire time!
