Nordic Music Festival

Colorful costumes, music and dancing were the order of the day during the Nordic Music Festival on Sept. 26, 2009 at Lake Waconia Regional Park.
The event, organized by Carver Countys Nordic Heritage Club, featured a variety of Scandinavian performers, including the American Swedish Institute Spelmanslag, Vasa Jr. Folk Dancers, the ASI CloudBerries Womens Chorus and Elise Peters, on nyckelharpa, a Swedish folk instrument.
A speaker noted that the location of the event was appropriate, since it was the heart of the proposed Scandia townsite, surrounded by the farms of Swedish settlers.
