First, the system did not need to be that huge. They did have a smaller version in development that they should have used in the first place. Second, the controllers were innovative, but poorly designed for lasting use. Also, they should have supported it better with good software.

Wow, talk about false advertising, this system was a piece of shit.

Just the controller, that was shit. You could buy third-party controllers for the 5200 that were a lot better.

the controller is referbuished with Gold circits which don't break or corrod like the the original parts Atari used. Downside, you have to wash your hands before use, or the buttons dry out
